I believe we need to update the saying “Growing old is not for the weak!” to “Growing old and keeping up with technology is a blessing and a curse!!” Having made it to Cleveland with little difficulty (the car is basically on autopilot and sometimes I think I am too – which is not a good thing!), it was time to complete online check-in. I had tried valiantly from home to at least get myself checked in – Nora’s linked to me and since part of checking in requires scanning your passport, I couldn’t manage hers anyway. But…for myself, I opened the email on both my phone and my laptop because scanning on my phone worked better than the camera on the laptop. Then I had to complete some crazy Canadian customs form since we will be flying into Vancouver, B.C. What’s hysterical is that we will be on Canadian soil approximately 3.5 hours and don’t intend to leave the airport! Having completed that much I had assumed I would get the boarding pass for my flight but….that website told me I’m flying on a partner airline with Delta and I would have to go to their website to finalize check-in!!!
So, what do I do? Call Devon and explain everything I had already done and that he would have to do the same for himself and Lia and that we’d have to handle Nora when I get there. About an hour later, the little monster calls back and says “Lia and I are all checked in, have our boarding passes, paid for luggage and have seat assignments!” This is where the GRRRRR comes in. “All you have to do is go to the Holland America Navigator app, find My itinerary which takes you to the plane reservations. Then you go to the Delta app and with the confirmation number you got from the Holland America app, you check in on the Delta app.” This he says with a smile in his voice and that “Mom, it’s easy!” sound. My reply is “Why would I know to do all that????”
Anyway, I believe all is well at this point. I guess we’ll find out tomorrow morning for sure!
